Bath in baroque elegance in one of Budapest's best-known thermal baths. The palatial spa is situated within the City Park, an easy metro journey from the centre of town, and is well worth a visit. Locals and foreigners alike flock here all year round to enjoy the benefits of a relaxing soak in an open-air thermal pool. In fact, the spa is arguably at its best on a cold winter's day with snow on the ground and steam rising from the water whilst in summer bathers relax on ornate deckchairs and benches in order to catch the sun. In addition to the temptation to simply wallow in 38 degree centigrade water, Széchenyi offers a host of other opportunities to chill out - with steam rooms, saunas and thai massage available. If you're in more of an active mood, there is a pool for swimming lengths (for which a swimming cap is necessary), a whirlpool and even floating games of chess! It's very easy to spend a whole day here although be aware that the money you get refunded on your ticket decreases with every hour you stay.
